I know very little about this composer. I've got just three discs, two of his suites excerpts (Masquerade, Spartacus and Gayaneh) but none with any complete suite, and the violin concerto. I find his music very expressive, romanti...

but worth the reading. No "magic experiences" listening to crappy music, no "mistical revelations" about who-cares soundstage delineation... just objectively-aimed impressions about the strong and weak points of the sounds those speakers can reproduc...

I must admit that the physical concept of flashing some powerful light on the playing surface of a CD to eliminate gas bubbles interfering with the laser reading, made very little sense. But on the other hand, especially since I have learned how to s...

I find the effect you describe about the "nespanization" of CDs very interesting and maybe worth trying it, specially in the context of my system, which has some of that "high frequencies syndrome" you comment elsewhere in this site. I've found a Bri...

Hi Romy,I believe you're right and it's due to the amount of LF the vinyl outputs, which may be more than the Bidat or the tuner do. It doesn't happen with all the discs, just some of them, which happen to be old recordings that probably have mo...

I do not think that anyone would be able to “teach” and I do not thin that there is nothing to teach about the mats. A good “sounding” platter does not require any “actions” from mat and the hard rubber mats do exactly...
|
Dear Romy, thanks for your comment. I actually don't want the mat to do "something" for me sonically, but to teach me how far I'm I of my ideal. Knowing your goals and taking for granted that the 8000's platter must be rather dead sonically, I assume...

Guy, my TT is a Nottingham Analogue Hyperspace, which replaced a Project RPM-9. With the later I learned about the sonic signature of acrylic platters and tried to get rid of it with some mats, but then I got the own mat's signature, which ...

Which one? Where can I find it? how much is it? What's it made of?I've tried a few mats and I always found in all of them some added "colorature". I've not tried any of the "audiophile approved" ones since I didn't expect any of them to work, and the...

and use its inertia as "idle wheel" to drive the lower mass platter. Something like B but having the motor moving the higher mass platter.Knowing you I'm sure that as soon as you have the belts you'll try every single arrangement for best result...

What about cutting it from the inner tube of a bike wheel? Race bikes usually sport tubeless tyres, but there are some big wheels using those inner tubes. I guess the circumference would be quite close to what you need.Regards....

Did you find some program different than Linx's that can play the 24/96 files?...
|
Hi Ronnie, I'm glad you solved your trouble and it was just a matter of balance in the frequency response range. The singer's formant is an ability that opera singers learn, in order to stand louder than the orchestra and be heard at the rear rows of ...
|
If the soundcard supports playback of those files, the player included with it should play them. Jetaudio is a versatile player, it supports up to 32 bits files, but not in wav format :-( Maybe iTunes would play them, give it a try.Regards,AJ...

I believe that those "allien sounds" are an enhancement of the frequencies comprised in what is called the singer's formant, which is the area of the third formant when opera singers sing vowels. That area is in the range of 3.5 to 5.5 KHz and is a s...

I listened to the transfers you did and they have "something". If that broadcast has it we'll have a nice nice time :-)Rgrds,Antonio...

LOL. I don't think you'll ever sell your LP's. Maybe you would sell the CDs after ripping them into the computer, but the vinyls..... I wouldn't do. In any case, let us know ;-)Rgrds,A...

I have been able to produce video files longer than 4Gb 7,5 Gb if I don't recall wrongly. Wav files shouldn't be any different. Are you using the All sound recorder XP? Maybe using other software it can be overcome or just changing some setting in it...

Hi,I heartfully agree with Romy, Michelangeli is a master playing the Ravel's Piano Concerto in G. A friend told me that Richter was once asked why he never played the Ravel's Concerto and he answered "why bother, Michelangeli already plays...

When I said that AM sounded in the Sansui as good as FM in other tuners, I meant just that, not that AM was as good as FM. FM in the Sansui is in a league of its own, but its AM is so good too that sounds better than most FM tuners or portable radios...

I also thought London should have more and better classical stations than Madrid. In Spain we have only two or three sindicated broadcast nets and but for the Radio Clasica channel and RNE3, all the others are always programming crappy music and "tal...

"It did make me consider trying to build a tuner that was "hardwired" to Radio 3, should be possible to achieve something spectacularly good..."If you get rid of the circuits for tunning all the bandwidth adjusting it just for BBC3 frequency&nbs...

I was told that they were thinking to stop analog FM stations and have them broadcasting in digital DAB, but I found the official webpage of the government about it. It's sure that they will stop (in Spain, don't know other countries) aerial analog T...

I haven't listened to the TU-X1, but I can swear that my TU-919 is a better source than my Bidat or my vinyl rig in terms of creating an atmosphere of music. Here we only have two decent stations, one for classical which from time to time broadc...
|
What will you do with the second TU-X1? Are you planning to do some modifications on it? I was about bidding for it while it was very affordable, but once it started to get more and more expensive and I noticed it was you.... I decided my TU-919...

It's a very easy to use, little space and processor consuming, free tool that I'm regularly using to record onto my hardisk the radio program my brother in law broadcasts thru internet. It can be configured to record from the S/PDIF or any other digi...

Oh, you were feeding the Lavry into the Bidat! I understood you were doing the full game feeding your computer. LOL my former comment was not applicable in that scenario.... really stupid hahaha.Romy, I'd like to know a couple of things about the Lav...
|
- If you still keep the Alesis HD based recorder, try plugging the Lavry using the AES/EBU connection into it (supposing it has that digital input, otherwise use the one you have available), then see if the noise is still so high. In the case yo...

I think that I've never experienced a pair of speakers placed to achieve the DPoLS, but once I had mine quite close since the "sound" was something special, which trascended the features of individual sounds and helped to make music an experience qui...

Thanks for the answers. The R23 was my personal interest, not the builder's. As you cleverly noted he knows very well what happens into the circuit, but it's my ignorance who needed to know. Sorry if I annoyed you ;-)I think we'll leave VR1 reachable...
